It is with heavy heart we announce the passing of Sid Wurzburg, a longtime resident on Spirit Lake.
Sid purchased a small 2-bedroom cabin with a detached A-frame in Bronze Bay in 1976, then tore it down in 1998 and replaced it with a 2-story home. Then in 2000 he and his wife Leslie declared Spirit Lake as their permanent residence and never looked back. They both have said it was the best decision they ever made!
As a home owner pulling water out of the lake, the appeal to join the board in 1982 was to give him a voice to help preserve the quality of the lake. Sid always had a strong interest and investment in the future of the lake, primarily the water quality & overdevelopment of the area.
During his time on the board, he was our primary legal counsel, president two different times, was instrumental in funding a Brickle Creek drainage/water quality study of Spirit Lake and single handedly established our 501c3 non-profit status.
Sid assisted in recording & documenting weekly lake levels since 2006 and was always there to participate in SLPOA projects. All his efforts and hard work have been vital to the successes of SLPOA.
He will truly be missed.
(Honoring Sid's request, there will be no planned memorial gathering.)
